Preparing for Surgery

Preparing for surgery is a gradual process that gives you time to understand your options and feel confident in your decisions. At Align Gender Surgery, you will meet with Dr Sofield and our multidisciplinary team to explore the procedures available and discuss what each option involves. Your appointments are a chance to ask questions, talk through expectations and potential risks, and make choices that are right for your goals and circumstances. There is never any pressure to decide quickly and we encourage you to take the time you need.

Before surgery, you will work closely with our team to make sure you are well prepared for both the procedure and your recovery. This may include physiotherapy education, guidance on pre/postoperative care, reviewing medical history and medications, and ensuring you have the appropriate support documentation in line with WPATH recommendations. We are here to help you feel informed and supported at every step, and our team is always available if questions come up along the way.
